Abandoned

As the word suggest an application that has been not followed through for the required or expected course of action according the Patent Office , at any point of the course of filing/request an patent grant.

Circumstances may include, such as;

The provisional Application was not followed by the complete application with in 12 months’ time period from the provisional filing date.
If the applicant fails to submit the fees of the patent application.
If the applicant fails to reply to the office action or conversation between him/her and the patent office with in a prescribed time.

An application may be expressly/ formally abandoned by filing a written declaration of abandonment identifying the application in the Patent Office. Express abandonment of the application may not be recognized by the Office before the date of issue or publication unless it is actually received by appropriate officials in time to act.
